Shelby Co. TN
DeSoto Co. MS

I checked up on the Western Kingbirds in Shelby Co, TN and DeSoto Co. MS
today and found one pair at Ensley Bottoms (southwest Memphis) carrying food to

fledged young and one pair in Frayser (northwest Memphis) doing the same.

In DeSoto Co, MS, I found and photographed 4 young in Mississippi's second
nest for this species. Mom and Dad were busily feeding gaping orange lined
beaks. These birds will be leaving the nest shortly. Again, I saw a third adult

bird at this location?

A real surprise came on President's Island in Memphis where I found the male
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher taking care of 3 fledged young. They had traveled
about 1/4 mile from the nest site. I took a few distant photos as the young
birds enjoyed a brief rain shower. Dad was doing the hustle trying to feed all
three as Mom is preparing a second nest at this time. Later at the Frayser
location, I finally found and photographed the female Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
 sitting on a nest.
Good Birding !!!
