President's Island and Frayser
Memphis, Shelby Co. TN
The male Scissor-tailed Flycatcher on President's Island has returned to the
nest site after taking the first brood of three away a few weeks back and is
now helping mom with the second brood of another three youngsters.
In Frayser, the paired Western Kingbird male and female Scissor-tailed FC
(she may well be a hybrid as she just does not look exactly right) are feeding
five fledged young. Three of these look essentially like Western Kingbirds
but their tails seem to be a bit deeply forked and show more white than
normal,
while the other two have their outside tail feathers, colored and shaped
like those of a Scissor-tail.????????? When you are pushing to expand your
range, you just do who or what you have to do.
Good Birding !!!
