May 2, 2007 Memphis, Shelby Co, TN I had an appointment down town this morning and left early enough to check out the Kingbird site in Frayser. Sitting out on a wire, fly catching, one Western Kingbird. Last year there were multiple nestings at this location including the female Scissor-tail mated with a western Kingbird. It will be fun to see if any of the 5 hybrid youngsters from last years mixed species nesting show up and what will they look like?? This afternoon, I checked for the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher on Presidents Island and the female is back building her nest on the same crossbar where I first found them four years ago. The male was sitting out on the wire watching her work. Good Birding !!! Jeff R.
