Walter S. Davis Blvd. Marsh Nashville, Davidson Co., TN 2012 April 16 7:10 am As I awoke on Monday morning the rain began to fall in Nashville, and so instead of taking an extended bird walk, I headed directly to work. However, I did make my usual stop at the Walter S. Davis Blvd. Marsh on the back side of Tenn. St. University. There is still some mud visible at the marsh, but a quick scan showed only one shorebird, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER. The GREATER YELLOWLEGS that had been seen on Friday and Saturday was missing. I continued to scan along the edge of the reeds and suddenly came upon a SORA, feeding in the mud at the edge of the marsh on the right hand side, not far from the SOLITARY SANDPIPER. This may be the same bird that Phillip Casteel spotted nearly 2 weeks ago. At about the same time that I found the bird, the rain started to intensify. I watched the SORA feed in the open for 1-2 minutes before the pesky rivulets of water falling down my face became too much of a distraction, so I opted to get to work a bit early.
