11 July 2004 Greene, Sullivan, and Washington Counties Alice Loftin, Linda Northrop, and I hit a few spots in three counties on Sunday afternoon and evening (11 July), looking first for Yellow-crowned Night-Herons on the Greenbelt near American Way in Kingsport (Sullivan County) and then moving on to Austin Springs in Washington County and several spots in the Gap Creek area of northwestern Greene County. By the end of the day, we had found the following: Great Egret (Austin Springs); Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (1 or 2 adults and 4 young near American Way); Barn Owl (Pilot Mountain Road in Greene County); Chuck-will's-widow (2 on Pilot Mountain Road in Greene County).
