Sorry for this delayed posting. 8-18-11, A.M. FS Rd. 230 across Unaka Mt. from TN395 near Erwin to TN107 near Unicoi This morning I intercepted three mixed species flocks on FS Rd. 230 on Unaka Mt. Dark-eyed Juncos were the most numerous birds in the flocks, but they also contained warblers, vireos, and Red-breasted Nuthatches, as well as a Downy Woodpecker in each flock. Below is a list of the warblers seen: Chestnut-sided - 6 Magnolia - 1 Black-throated Blue - 16 Black-throated Green - 7 Blackburnian - 1 Black & White - 4 Ovenbird - 1 Hooded - 3 Canada - 4 Selected other birds: Broad-winged Hawk - 3 Yellow-throated Vireo - 1 Blue-headed Vireo - 3 Red-eyed Vireo - 2 Red-breasted Nuthatch - 4 Scarlet Tanager - 1 Darrel Wilder Johnson City =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER==================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
