Spent some time at the Turkey Creek Wetland in west Knox County Saturday afternoon before being chased by a much needed downpour. Saw three birds foraging in the path some distance ahead of me. One was a Brown Thrasher, another was a Northern Mockingbird and the third, yes!, a Gray Catbird. A Mimidae hat trick. I don't recall ever seeing the three together before. Before I was finished I saw several Mockingbirds and Catbirds (including a Catbird in the McDonald's parking lot with the House Sparrows) but that was the only Thrasher. No waders or waterfowl. Several Indigo Buntings, a couple Common Yellowthroats and a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher in addition to the usual crew.
