Bird was still present as of about 3pm this afternoon. The ponds are to the
north side of the airport area, immediately to your left as you walk from the
parking area. It was in the pond on the east side of the small dike that splits
the two ponds, feeding along the left back side in and out of some tufts of
grass along the edge. Chris Agee, Philip Casteel, Jim Arnett, and Frank Fekel
observed it while I was there.
NOTE: Denise Weyer with metro parks world like to remind anyone planning to
visit to see the bird, to stay outside of the electric barbed wire fence as
that sections off private property. As a courtesy, you can check in with the
Shelby Bottom nature center (615-863-8539) to inform them you are there, and if
enough interest is generated, they might be able to provide escorts around the
area if the bird hangs around and out moves to a less viewable area. It can be
ID'ed with binoculars but a scope would be recommended. The nature center has a
scope that can be checked out.

I'm currently in the field looking at a Tricolored Heron at Cornelia Fort
Airpark (Shelby Bottoms) in Nashville, Davidson Co. Small, blue heron. White
plumes on head. White sides and belly. Light colored legs. Dark bill. Actively
feeding in flooded cow pasture/Slough. Got poor binoc pics.
