This afternoon at Cove Lake State Park, Campbell County, TN
I found a nice assortment of waterfowl. They are definitely on the move.
First highlight was a HORNED GREBE nearly in breeding plumage

Next I spotted RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS 2
2 GORGEOUS MALE COMMON MERGANSERS as well as
 18 HOODED MERGANSER
Will have to check my records, but from memory, these are only the second
sighting I have had in 8 yrs. of Common Merganser here.

Other waterfowl present :
GADWALL
AMERICAN WIGEON
GREEN WINGED TEAL
MALLARD
17 RING-NECKED DUCKS
16 REDHEAD
1 CANVASBACK
4 PIED BILL GREBES

GRACKLES AND RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS WERE NUMEROUS, AS WELL AS 3 RUSTY
BLACKBIRDS.
