Birders,
This morning at exactly 9AM(CDT) I bopped out my den door to refill the
feeders. I was astounded at the swirl of at least 50 Waxwings attacking my 10
large Nandina bushes-eating last year's crop of red berries. In just a minute
they were stripped of all berries and I was in shock. These bushes are against
my house and five kids were playing next door. My four holly trees lost all
their berries to the freeze. I didn't even know birds ate Nandina berries.
Somebody-are these beries safe for birds to eat? I never even thought of that
before because I have never seen a bird eat them. Too late to worry about that
now, I guess.
