[TN-Bird] Sightings Report, 2 Jan 08, Shelby Farms area, Memphis, Shelby County

Location:     TN, Shelby Farms Patriot Lake
Observation date:     1/2/08

Notes:     Large number of Canada Geese in and around Patriot Lake. 7 of the
geese were much smaller than the big Canada's. Smaller bill, and head. Real
cold last night and into today, max it got was around 30 dropping to teens
tonight.Snipe seen in the Cypress wetland area on the SE Corner of Walnut
grove Rd and Farm rd.

American Kestrel     3

American Coot     16

Killdeer     3

Wilson's Snipe     13

Ring-billed Gull     3

Horned Lark     9

Observation date:     1/2/08

Notes:     Continued lunchtime run through the park.

Blue Jay     2

Tufted Titmouse     2

Ruby-crowned Kinglet     1

Eastern Bluebird     3

American Robin     2

Northern Cardinal     5

 

Location:     TN, Shelby Farms Picnic Shltr 4/Beaver Lake

Observation date:     1/2/08

Notes:     Ended lunch at the last lake and had no surprises.

Number of species:     7

Great Blue Heron     1

Dark-eyed Junco     7

Northern Cardinal     2
