April 29, 2012 Shelby Bottoms Nashville, Davidson Co This morning a Swainson's Warbler (presumably the same bird as last year) was singing at the same location in phase 2 of Shelby Bottoms as last year. You can park at the pedestrian bridge access across the river and it's a shorter walk to get there than starting at the Forrest Green Shelby Bottoms entrance. After walking across and down the bridge, take a right into the woods and if the bird is singing it can be heard from a good distance. From the Greenways website: Connection to Shelby Bottoms Greenway Bridge Address: 230 Two Rivers Court Nashville, TN 37214 (please park at Wave Country) To get to the bird from The Forrest Green Drive Shelby Bottoms trailhead: Take the paved trail from the parking lot (you can go straight or left, both will take you the right way) along the river until you come to the pedestrian bridge. Continue past the bridge, then over a small bridge over a creek. The bird can be heard almost as soon as you cross this bridge. The TOS website has good directions to the Forrest Green trailhead.
