Shelby Park and Bottoms Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Tuesday, 2011 October 4 7:15-9:35am crisp and clear After dropping my wife off at the airport, I walked Mission Hill and Phase 1 of Shelby Bottoms on Tuesday morning. The Hill gave me my first of the year LINCOLN'S SPARROW and a calling E. SCREECH OWL. In the Bottoms in the partially cut area I had 2 MARSH WRENs right along the paved trail edge and 2 nice looks at 2 SEDGE WRENs farther back. I managed 11 species of warblers with MAGNOLIA being the most numerous, but I also was able to spy a male WILSON'S, an ORANGE-CROWNED, and a YELLOW-THROATED in addition to the usual suspects. VIREOs were represented by WHITE-EYED and PHILADELPHIA. A pair of immature COOPER'S HAWKS chased each other and flew low over my head. In all I found 51 species.
