It's early in the season to expect a whole lot of species diversity from this, but the weather is creating potential migrant fallout conditions tonight over much of middle Tennessee. A rain shield and windshift is moving slowly across the region from northwest to southeast. In advance of this line the winds are strong and southerly and the weather radar indicates a pretty heavy northward movement of night-migrating passerines. As the squall line arrives the birds will be grounded by the rain and northwesterly winds; the rain shield behind the squall line will keep them grounded for the duration of the night. In spots you can actually see on the radar the pileup of headwind-fighting birds at the gust front just in advance of the rain; they'll call it quits and land pretty quickly. The geometry isn't perfect for a major pileup, but it might produce some good concentrations of grounded early spring migrants for a bit until the weather clears, the wind turns, and they can continue on their way.
