Upon entering my bedroom this afternoon, I walked over to the window, which has three bird feeders hanging from it, and it overlooks a multitude of other feeders in the yard. Sitting in the corner of my window sill, was a rufous morph Screech Owl. I don't know who was more surprised, the owl or me. He was half asleep, but upon realizing my presence, he quickly opened his eyes and then flew up into the tree in the fence row. This got a chorus of chickadees, titmouse, robins, and cardinals all in a lather. It's been awhile since I have seen or heard a Screech owl in our neighborhood, and this is the first time I have had a rufous morph in my yard. Anyway, just wanted to share my find and excitement with other birders. He was a beauty. Ann D.
