Hi Folks Last night, November 10, we set up to band Saw-whet Owls at Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge located in east Knox County off of I-40. We set up six nets in a hiking trail in the woods and played an audio lure from 6:15 to 11:15 PM. Conditions were excellent with no moon, very light wind and clear sky. We caught and banded four owls each about an hour apart. All the owls were caught in the nets closest to the lure and most very low in the nets. This is an invasion year for saw-whets with large numbers being caught all over the eastern US at various banding stations. I was amazed and elated at what we caught last night. Thanks, Mark Armstrong, Seymour, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
