I went down Hwy 89 east of Kenton by Hop-In Refuge and saw no cranes on the now
flooded refuge. Several ducks were out in the flooded fields. I drove north on
Simmon Road and continued north all the way to Hwy 216. Along Simmons Road I
encountered several hundred Sandhill Cranes (probably 800+ total). There were
several flocks of 50-60 birds and a few small flocks of 10-20 birds in the
fields. The largest flocks I encountered contained 300-400 cranes and were in
the fields west of Simmons Rd. near the jct. of Jodie Jacobs Road and the north
end of Floyd Simmons Road.

I had a flock of 10 Eurasian Collared-Doves along Hwy 45W just northwest of
Rutherford in Gibson County.

Good birding,
