On February 18, 2014, Sandhill Cranes were observed heading north over the floodplain of Bells Bend Park (N36.156822 and W-086.931735) paralleling the Cumberland River at 2:20 p.m., composed of 140 individuals in three flocks of 123 individuals, 13 individuals, and 4 individuals. The second flock was about 15 seconds behind the first flock and the third flock about 30 seconds behind the second flock. The flocks were not high and in V's, the large flock very loose and elongated. Constant calls from many individuals were audible before the flock was in view until it was out of site. Sky was sunny, but hazy; wind, S 10 mph; 62 F.
