David,
I am afraid that I don't share your confidence in
hunters to NOT shoot Whoopers. While the vast
majority will not shoot them, with the population so
low, it only takes a few to seriously impact the
population.
A Texas hunter was also convicted of killing a Whooper
- the incident was in 2003. The hunter mistook the
Whooper for a Sandhill...
