After seeing and/or hearing 4 different Connecticut Warblers this AM with Phillip Casteel at Shelby Bottoms, I decided to checkout the Discovery Center Marsh in Murfreesboro only to find another bird there singing albeit sporadically. It was with a nice warbler flock which included Blackpoll, A Redstart, Magnolia, Bay-breasted, and Yellow. I probably heard it yesterday in the same spot, but was never able to be sure. It was in the willows just off the boardwalk taking the left fork on the main trail. The YC Night-Herons there undoubtedly have babies on the nest now, but a limb fell in front of the nest with the last storm, and close observation is now impossible. The E Screech-Owls in my home nest-box are just about ready to fledge, and when they leave the yard, we won't see them again until winter. My wife and I saw 2 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers on Friday on the fence surrounding the quarry to the north of Tn 840 between US 41 and I-24. Today, I was unable to locate any STs there or on Florence Road.
