2 Bewick's Wrens were seen singing on territory at one of their regular locations. One bird was at 4945 and one at 5512 Lytle Creek Road. This site can be accessed south of Murfreesboro via US 41 off Dilton Mankin Road A pair of Loggerhead Shrikes are on territory in that general area as well and appear to be ready for nesting. This is the only pair in the county of which I am aware. In a barnyard near the wrens, a Vesper Sparrow was seen with some Field and Chipping Sparrows. A flooded field nearby yielded 2 Cattle Egrets. The Yellow-crowned Night-Herons have returned to the Children's Discovery Center on SE Broad St (US 41) Up to 3 birds have been seen over the past week but so far no evidence of nesting seen Yesterday, as I was leaving my subdivision, a Peregrine Falcon flew directly over my truck at a very low altitude. This may be the first county record??
