Willie has kept a 6:36 a.m. schedule for the third day in a row now. After his first just-checking visit to the feeder, he made four more visits in the first two minutes. Virginia tried yesterday to find his sitting place when he leaves his favorite cedar bush near the feeder but was unsuccessful. She did get to observe something we had heard about from others but had never seen ourselves - a hummer catching insects. Willie sat on the wrought iron holder where he often sits before coming to the feeder and repeatedly flew out to catch insects just like a regular flycatcher. Guess he was tired of a sugar water diet and needed some protein. It seems there is always something new to learn about birds.
