In yet another instance of the Lone White Goose phenomenon, Clay Gascoigne just sent me some photos of a Ross's Goose that is hanging out with some domestic ducks and geese and local Canada Geese at Creekwood Marina on Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville (Sumner County). For those note familiar with the Lone White Goose phenomenon, in a large percentage of cases, a single white goose in Tennessee over the last ten years or so has turned out to be a Ross's Goose as opposed to a Snow Goose. On a number of occasions like this one, the lone Ross's has taken up with the resident population, and in those cases the Ross's seems to take its "wariness" cues from the locals, meaning that you can get very very close to these birds before they show the slightest bit of alarm. -- Chris Sloan chris.sloan@xxxxxxxxxxx Nashville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
