April 24, 2009 Robco Lake and Ensley Bottoms Shelby Co. TN At Robco Lake, there is a full breeding plumaged Common Loon. A stunning bird up close and personal. Ring-billed Gulls numbered 14 plus a full breeding plumaged Bonaparte's Gull with a dull winter plumaged first year bird. Ruddy Ducks are hanging in three groups with a total of 17 birds. At Ensley, the Semipalmated Plovers of the day before had been replaced with 2 First Of Season Semipalmated Sandpipers. A Peregrine Falcon was keeping up everyone's attention and a single Harrier skimmed the newly mown field looking for casualties. At TVA Lake, 10 male Lesser Scaup were eyeing a single female and a hen Pintail was a surprise. Good Birding !!! Jeff R.
