July 26, 2002 Ensley Bottoms Shelby Co. TN I arrived at the pits at 3:45 this afternoon and started looking "in all those old familiar places" as the song goes. Her Highness was not to be found. There were a lot of birds moving about due to the number of Mississippi Kites but I could pick her out of any of the flocks flying about. There is a lot of habitat to be looked at but these birds generally habituate themselves to certain plots and unless things change they usually can be found. I did find an American Golden-Plover in basic plumage and most of the interesting species that have been around like the Baird's and W. Phalarope but not her. FINALLY as I was about to leave, I checked back at her old hunting grounds and stopped by chance to talk to the plant manager; as we talked she dropped in out of nowhere. At 6:05 she was again holding her territory and feeding. Hopefully she will hold over this weekend................ Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
