This would be only the second record ever for Black-neced Stilt
in East Tn and (to my knowledge) only the third for the state
away from the Mississippi River!!!! There was a single bird
at Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery in Anderson Co., TN on 1 Aug 1985.
Congratulations to Charlie, Tracey, Mike, Leslie and Linda. I'm
sure the Tennessee State Record Committee will be in touch to
solicit an official report.
Were there any indications of breeding behavior? We REALLY need
to keep on top of this as it would be a major event and range
expansion.
I would like to hear more about these birds. Could the be
seen from the road?
