Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Nashville-Davidson Co. TN

10 May 2010

With the Lake, South Lake and Ganier Ridge Trails now open, I decided to
take a quick hike early this morning . The most numerous bird species by far
was the Swainson's Thrush. They were everywhere. It seemed as if every bird,
whether on the ground, flitting up or down and past, or sitting on a branch
was a Swainson's. Their "whip" calls were everywhere and many were singing
as well. I even got to watch a few sing and interestingly they sounded much
farther away than the actually were.

Towards the end of my walk I stopped short, hearing the repeated "Veeyur"
call of a Veery. It then sang softly twice, and afterwards was quiet.
