[TN-Bird] RFI: Birding in Britain

We are planning to go to England on April 21 (a rather hasty decision), so this
is the beginning of me starting to try to do my homework.
We will be visiting our daughter in Exeter. Are there any particular places
that we should try to take in for birding in Great Britain, particularly
England, although we may take a side trip to Wales or Scotland.
Also, is there a Field Guide I should be sure to get for Britain, or, for that
matter, for Britain and Europe?
Any suggestions and advice will be appreciated. Please send back channel.
