Dec.1, 2011 J. Percy Priest Lake, Davidson Co. TN

The road going over Percy Priest dam was finally re-opened today, so
access to the overlook parking lot is much easier. Scanning from there after
lunch today nothing unusual seen on the lake. On the tree line by the road
behind me crows were harassing what I assumed was either a Red-shouldered or
Red-tailed hawk. When I got my glasses up it turned out to be an adult
PEREGRINE FALCON. My closest look at one yet! Like Jeff Wilson's Prairie
Falcon
recently, this bird stayed on it's perch and I was able to drive under it
for close photos.
It stayed on this perch for the entire 30 minutes I was there. Don't know
if will hang around or is just passing through.
