Aug. 20, 2002 I have a couple of portrait photos of 2 of the 6 Piping Plovers taken with my digital camera and scope on Sunday morning at Island 13 in Lake Co. TN. One adult wore a single plastic band but no metal band. I'm sending for information about the present banding of these birds. Being that there was no metal band and only one colored band the bird will not be traceable to an exact time or location. These birds tend to loose the metal band due to wear and salt water relatively fast. It marks the 9th shorebird species and the 28th individual I have found banded in TN. If you want to see these two cute visitors up close and personal, including jewelry, drop me a line and I'll send a zip package of three shots for your birding pleasure. Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
