I started the long weekend with a stop at the Percy Priest Dam and Cooks rec
area, taking in some fresh air and birds in the last 2 hrs of daylight.
Diversity wasn't great, but the numbers were.

Gulls have finally returned. I had about 9 gulls total in 7 hours with 4 stops
last week. Today I had a nice flock of 24 Bonaparte's flying away from
Nashville Shores and a group of ~800 ring-billed gulls roosting at the same
location from last year off Cook.

I also set 4 personal high counts for Percy Priest today with these stops (and
one 2nd highest count):
Common Loon - 301 (in a second count I had 291, so nice replication of the
count. My previous high was 178 last week! This count is from Cook area only)
Bufflehead - 78 (2nd highest count, Cook and the dam area)
Horned Grebe - 96 (2x prev. high, Cook and the dam area)
Hooded Merganser - 35 (I rarely see them on the lake proper, Cook area only)
American Coot - 1150 (4x prev. high, Cook area only)

Great birding!
