Late yesterday morning as I drove on Rt. 304 (River Rd) toward Kingston , a
small osprey flew out of the mouth of Old Hood Landing Rd with something
very long and limp swinging in its talons -- a squirrel -- and gently
parachuted with it down into a nest atop a utility pole at [35.827231,
-84.565006]. I hadn't known ospreys kill squirrels, and I have no idea how
many months (years?) I've driven past that pole without noticing its bird-y
"topknot."
