TN-birders, Saturday, May 8th, is count day for the upcoming NAMC (always the second Saturday in May). This will be the 14th consecutive NAMC for our state. This count is an important one day "snapshot" of our bird population. Consider helping out on one of the counts with somebody else or try a count area on your own. Every county is a count area. Please use the normal count criteria for all Tennesse bird counts. Keep track of the species and total numbers for them. Please also keep track of the effort data such as hours and miles by foot, car, and any owling. Feeder/yard watching is encouraged and appreciated. These data are kept separately from the normal "field" birding. Also keep track of the start and end times for your count and the weather conditions for the day, such as wind, rain, temperatures, etc. Safety is FIRST. If there are abnormal weather conditions during or before your count, please be aware of high water, high winds, etc. The results should be turned into your county's count compiler. If there is no county compiler, please email or snail mail the results to me at the address below. Most of all, HAVE FUN! Good Luck!
