Hi Folks,Greetings from Sunny California (I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt
and driving with the windows open). My friend of 25 years, Jusn Mas (Cc) is
flying in to OakRidge this weekend. He is not a bird watcher, but he loves the
outdoors. He is thinking about visiting Smoky National Park and would like to
get some tips about where he can go all day Sunday to walk around and enjoy
beautiful scenery near Oakridge. We don't know, either one of us, what the
weather will be like, or if the roads are icy, or dangerous up in the mountains
in that part of the state. For my own part, I get the feeling that my job will
not be sending me to Tennessee this year. However, Tennessee came to visit me.
A Barred Owl showed up a couple hundred miles north of my house. This is a big
deal in Southern California.El Nino has not lived up to expectations, although
from what I hear from my co-workers in my department who work in and out of
northern half of the state they have had tons of rain up there. We did have a
spectacular thunder and lightning rain storm with Hill, on Monday though, that
would have made you think that you are somewhere in the eastern US.
