Stopped again Tuesday evening, Aug. 13, at the manmade lake next to Morton Mill Road in Bellevue hoping for a change of scenery. (This area gets overflow from the Harpeth River when it floods.) Instead I got the usual suspects with a big increase in Killdeer. The water level continues to expose more mudflats but with the brief rains this morning, the level may rise by tonight. Least Sandpiper 5 Solitary Sandpiper 1 Killdeer 24+ Hummingbirds seem to be on the increase at my home and at least a couple have stayed for 2-3 days. Some of the birds can be identified by the their particular feather moult. With the increase in numbers the territorial battles have increased. Certainly a pleasure to watch.
