Just yesterday (2 Nov 2007) I was wondering if the Orange-crowned Warblers had completely bypassed us here in Lewis County this year. A few minutes later I found 4 of them in my brushy edges. Today (3 Nov) one lingering Orange-crowned was joined by an unexpected Nashville Warbler. In addition to being surprisingly late, this is also my first of this species for the autumn season. In other news, it is proving to be a good fall for Purple Finches (up to 10 on my morning rounds) and Fox Sparrows (up to 7). I don't maintain feeders, letting the brush, weeds, and brambles do that for me, so the Purple Finches are outnumbering the House Finches here.
