Reelfoot Lake Area
May 15 & 16

Six NTOS birders took part in the Saturday, May 15th, trip
to the Reelfoot lake area. If you ever thought you wanted
to hear or see a Dickcissel at close range, go to Reelfoot
soon. These energetic, little birds are almost everwhere
and singing all the time. Indigo Buntings are almost as
numerous and, likewise, their songs fill the air.

Some trip members returned to Nashville on Saturday. A few
opted to spend the night and bird again Sunday, May 16th.

Trip totals for both days was ninty species. Some enjoyable
sightings include; Bobolinks and an incredible number of Orioles
on Hi-Way 79,a Barn Owl in Tiptonville, ten Mississippi Kites
hawking insects and playing tag at the same time,Least, Forster's
and Caspian Terns and a brief look at a Least Bittern at Black
Bayou.

Talk and walk softly, carry a big
scope.
