Bob Ingle and I spent the day birding Rutherford and S Davidson County. We ended up with 99 species with a beautiful pair of Scissortail flycatchers being most noteworthy. They were seen on a wire fence one mile down Lytle Creek Road from the T Junction with Dilton-Mankin Road. The road takes a sharp left turn here, and a paved access road goes straight ahead. The birds were beside the field which has a cattle feeder with a bright red top. I suspect they will nest in that general area. This is only one mile from the Bewick's Wren site, a bird which we also observed today. Other species of interest: 1 Loggerhead Shrike 1 Eurasian Collared Dove 2 N Bobwhites (very scarce here now) 2 Bank Swallows at Fate Sanders Marina We looked at mid-day for the Scissortails on Florence Road with no success!
