May 11, 2011 Shelby Bottoms Nashville, Davidson Co While searching for Willow Flycatchers (no luck) in phase 3 of Shelby Bottoms, a single Mississippi Kite flew over me with two crows in pursuit. The Kite then perched in a tree across the field from where I was for several minutes, before heading towards Opry Mills with several Blue Jays chasing it. This makes the second Kite sighting in Nashville in the past few days...amazing. Earlier Mike Smith and I had good looks at a singing Alder Flycatcher in phase 1 of the Bottoms, and we heard but did not see a Connecticut Warbler. Both of these birds were on the paved trail along the river, not to far past the river overlook platform.
