In a brief stop at my favorite Shelby Farms Trail spot yesterday afternoon,
from just after 3:00 to 4:15, I enjoyed seeing a rose-breasted grosbeak,
several black-throated green warblers, one yellow-throated warbler, a magnolia
and
at least two pine warblers. I was surprised to see a prarie warbler harassing
one black-throated green, chasing it through the boughs. Heard more than one
parula. Jays and robins moving steadily, and flickers too. Noisy Carolina wrens
and chickadees were busy and I didn't count them. The area right by the
parking lot, off Humphries Boulevard between Kirby and Germantown Parkway,
before
you cross the bridge into the woods, has tall cypress trees and pines around
the
path and restroom building, right next to duckweed choked slough and 50 ft
from the Wolf River.
