This morning Louisiana Waterthrushes and Black and White Warbler were
singing at dawn on the TN river gorge in Marion county. Three Barred Owls
called before dawn.
A dozen Pine Siskins were still here yesterday. More than 150 dispersed
within the last month. Some of the present ones are so tame that I can
stand within two feet of them. That makes me believe that these did not
winter here. The big flock was readily spooked by movement of people. All
have been healthy this winter, showing no signs of conjunctivitis or
salmonella.
