Dec 14, 2003 Shelby County Yesterday was the 76th annual Christmas Bird Count in Memphis. Weather was cloudy and cold, with temperature remaining in the 30's. There were 96 species, two of which are new to the count: a Common Ground-Dove at President's Island, and an amazing BLUE-WINGED WARBLER at the North Treatment Plant (first ever for a Tennessee CBC ?). Other notable species found included Greater White-fronted Geese, Mute Swan, Blue-winged Teal, 2 Greater Scaups, Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Lesser Yellowlegs, Forster's Terns, House Wrens, Sedge Wren, Orange-crowned Warblers, Vesper Sparrows and 2 Purple Finches.
