I'm in Knoxville too, not far from Dean. My cherry tree is fine, still blooming, but a limb was damaged by a storm last week. Had a tree man out looking at it today as the limb needs to be taken off cleanly - it's just hanging there. I asked him about my beauty berry bushes that are close to the tree; they had been starting to leaf out but the leaves are turning brown & brittle. He said they should be okay and should send out new shoots this spring; hope he's right as the bluebirds and mockingbirds sure love those berries in the fall. I don't think my tulip tree is black but haven't looked closely; probably would have noticed something like that. Eastern Bluebirds in my nestbox. She had laid 5 eggs and they hatched out sometime in the last few days as I've seen her bringing small green tidbits to the nest but I haven't opened it to check due to the cold. Hopefully it will warm up enough and I'll take a look later in the week.
