Jan. 4, 2008 Lauderdale Waterfowl Refuge Just north of Halls on Highway 210 Lauderdale Co. TN I've had a couple of inquiries about the Ross's at Lauderdale, I had one of the dark morph birds on Sunday, 12-30-07, but the large numbers of geese and Crows are quickly putting the corn down. We had 15 Cackling Geese in the mix all lined up swimming in the far right corner of the refuge. Five species of geese can be seen at one time. Also in the huge congregation of crows in the area there are lots of Fish Crows calling. Seven Bald Eagles and numerous Red-tails and Harriers stir the mix incessantly. A total of 20 species of waterfowl were present on each of my last two trips, still looking for a rarity in the horde...........I'll be doing the White River CBC this weekend so let us know what you find up there. The enclosed viewing area makes for warmer viewing out of the wind. Good Birding !!! Jeff R.
