This island used to be an all-but-exclusive Great blue heron rookery, but the Double-crested cormorants seem to have progressively commandeered it. In past years, I've occasionally seen Great egrets there as well. I haven't kept strict count, but this year seems to have been a good one for Ospreys in the Kingston area. Do any of you keep a census here? If so, what do your numbers show? Sadly, we'll be losing the Osprey nest on top of the old US 70 bridge when they finish the new bridge and blow the old one apart. Last night I saw 3 Ospreys on the nest as I drove across.
