I had a very late Red-eyed Vireo in the yard Tues morning (west Knox Co,
10 Nov 2015). Seen well for about five minutes but too far for photos.
Flew into the top of a hickory, sat there for a couple minutes without
foraging, then dropped down to a maple where it sat for several more
minutes before disappearing into the woods.
Strong, dark eye stripe, gray crown bordered by black line above the eye,
whiteish underparts, green back, some yellowish on lower flanks.
I don't have a copy of Sloan and Somershoe yet but this is one day past the
late date in Robinson and crushes my previous personal late date of 18 Oct.
