[TN-Bird] Kingston Steam Plant Birds

At Kingston Steam Plant in Roane County, TN today (May 13, 2005) between 
9:27-12:27 the following highlights were seen:

1. Ring-necked Duck- 1
2. Osprey- 4 (two nests)
3. Northern Bobwhite- 3
4. Killdeer- 2 (probably more)
5. Semipalmated Plover- 4
6. Least Sandpiper- 36
7. Spotted Sandpiper- 2
8. White-rumped Sandpiper- 4 (all birds were seen at 45X magnification and 
at close range- within
    50 feet).  Primaries extended beyond the tail, rufous markings seen in 
back feathers, streaks
    along sides of the birds, and one bird seen in flight had a white rump.
9. Willow Flycatcher- 3
10. Yellow-breasted Chat- 2
11. Blackpoll Warbler- 1 (seen and heard singing)
12. Blue Grosbeak- 1
13. Grasshopper Sparrow?- 2 (did not have good looks at these birds)
14. Vesper Sparrow- 1 (observed bird)
15. Bobolinks- 7 (seen and heard all birds)

A total of 55 bird species were observed or heard.
