Let's make that a Canoe and "Kayak" trip.  I have no idea what a "kayka" is.

Subject: [TN-Bird] KTOS Rankin Bottoms WMA canoe and kayka trip

Rankin Bottoms Wildlife Management Area,   Newport   , TN Canoe and Kayak
Trip
May 14, Saturday, 8: 30 am, launching from the Rankin Bridge Boat Ramp
Leaders:  Michael Sledjeski (home:423-487-3161 or cell:423-721-2059,
mbsledjeski@xxxxxxxxx ); Leslie Gibbens, and Chris Welsh

International Migratory Bird Day is May 14.  Join Michael, Leslie, and Chris
Welsh to explore Rankin Bottoms by handpowered watercraft.  Waterbirds and
warbler nesting habitats are likely to be visited, but the exact route will
depend on the water level.

Driving time from Knoxville to Rankin  is  at least an hour, with time for
a bathroom break along the way.  There are no restrooms at Rankin Bottoms.
Directions and more information about Rankin Bottoms are at:
http://www.tnbirds.org/birdfinding/RankinBottoms.htm

The trip should last about 2.5 hours, so bring sunscreen, hat, drinking water,
life jackets, and boat shoes, if possible.

Please coordinate with Michael regarding canoe/kayak space.  That is, if you
want to go and don't have a canoe, or if you have a canoe and are willing to
take passengers, by May 11.  There are some extra canoes and equipment
currently available.  Michael would accept a $25 donation to support the
Rankin Project for using the canoes and equipment if you can make that
contribution.
