The Knoxville Chapter of The Tennessee Ornithilogical Society conducted a field trip to Kyker Bottoms in Blount County on Saturday October 25, 2003. The highlight of this outing was a beautiful Henslow's Sparrow that was seen by all participants as it sat up for approximately 3-4 minutes in perfect light. Thanks go to David Trently for arriving early and finding this rare bird for all to see. Several additional sparrow species were seen including White-crowned, Vesper and Fox (and Grasshopper by a few folks). Please note that Kyker Bottoms closes to foot traffic beginning Nov. 1.
