Job announcement:

Coordinator for the Mississippi River Natural and Recreational Corridor 

The Mississippi River Natural and Recreational Corridor project will
preserve, celebrate and provide access to the Mississippi River that frames
Tennessee's western border.  What people love they want to protect.   

The primary objective for this coordinator is to oversee completion of a
series of strategic plans/master plan for the Mississippi Natural and
Recreational Corridor with such public support that the project will exceed
expectations and accomplish more than the current vision.  

The project coordinator in partnership with steering committee members will
fully develop a project Scope of Work that includes timetables, tasks, and
budget needed to complete it.  Tasks will include applying by Spring, 2005
for the National Heritage Designation (see www.cr.nps
<http://www.cr.nps.gov/heritageareas/> .gov/heritageareas/), coordinating
support for the National Scenic Byways Grant (now pending) and completion of
a series of strategic plans by June, 2006.  The coordinator will fully
utilize and develop key partners and stakeholders.  In conjunction with
Foundation staff and the steering committee for the Mississippi River, the
coordinator will ensure that funds are raised to complete work.  

Office Location:  Memphis Regional Chamber

Position Requirements:  Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in
natural resource management, planning, public policy, marketing,
communications or other related field and three years related work
experience.   Public presentation skills and the ability to work
independently are essential.  

Compensation:  Salary commensurate with experience.  Part-time or Full-time
hours will be considered. Two-year contract funding is secure.  Additional
employment dependent on success of project.
